In this monster scene there are many light and dark scenes which show a horrific image of gore and death. the first few moments are intense as the woman is scared of tapping the button to release the monsters. the shots are mainly long shots and a few close up's of the characters, during these scenes many things are going on.
Sound
is very important within a film to help set the tone mood and atmosphere. Non-diegetic music is used to reflect the narrative events such as as the scene opens there is music in the background building up suspence untill she hits the button. Diegetic
sound is used in the dialogue between the characters when they are trying to escape, it
reveals their fear for their lives in the way they speak, they are very out of breathe and scared, this shows that the genre is a horror film as the setting is dark and light giving it a balance.
A close-up
shot is used to show the character feelings and expressions. An
establishing shot is used of the setting when the ginger girl in cabin in the woods presses the button, it shows what she is feeling and the fear in her eyes. This establishes where the
narrative is going to take place. A two shot
is used of the characters during the first few seconds to show their relationship, their relationship seems that they are in it together and there could be a love interest as u see them holding hands to keep safe and feel comfort during the spine chilling scenes. A tracking
shot follows the action of the characters running away from the bat to reveal to the audience that this is an intense and scary film. This engages them
because we want to find out what happens to these two characters, if they die or survive.
The main
characters are introduced in the opening scene of this cut out when they are both sitting down with blood all over them. The audience
recognises that they are the main characters through the use of the
dialogue/camera shots/events that they are involved in.
